Closer Robotics, a company specializing in AI robotics development, has been selected to participate in Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry’s “Innovative Robot Development Project (Food Sector).” The project aims to develop new robot technologies in collaboration with several companies to address challenges in the food manufacturing industry.
Advancing Automation in Food Manufacturing: Robotic Technology Takes Center Stage
Closer Robotics announced its participation in the 2024 Innovative Robot Development Project led by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. This initiative seeks to address challenges in automating food manufacturing processes, specifically in the prepared food sector, where the development of systems such as noodle preparation and automated transport between temperature-controlled environments will play a key role.
In the prepared food sector, irregularly shaped food items have made automation difficult. However, Closer Robotics, with its expertise in advanced image processing and robotic control, plans to tackle challenges such as automating the placement of small condiment packets into containers. Working alongside several prepared food manufacturers and vendor companies, Closer Robotics aims to expand the applicability and versatility of robotic systems in this industry.
As a robotics company originating from the University of Tsukuba, Closer Robotics is committed to making robots a common solution across various industries. With its vision of “Making Robots a Natural Choice,” the company’s efforts are expected to play a significant role in the future of automation in the food industry, providing solutions for labor shortages and enhancing productivity.
