Expansion of Renewable Energy Adoption to Reduce Environmental Impact in Adachi Ward
Adachi Ward has set a goal of reducing CO2 emissions by more than 46% compared to 2013 levels by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as part of its “Carbon Neutral Declaration.” To help reach this goal, the ward has already introduced a 100% renewable energy plan for 29 public facilities. Now, the plan has been extended to all 102 public elementary and junior high schools, with the adoption of Cosmo Oil Marketing’s “Cosmo Denki Business Green” plan.
“Cosmo Denki Business Green” is a renewable energy plan that combines power generated from wind energy with non-fossil fuel certificates, ensuring that the electricity used has a net-zero CO2 impact. With this initiative, the electricity supply for 131 public facilities in Adachi Ward will switch to renewable energy, amounting to approximately 25 million kWh annually—equivalent to about 42% of the total electricity consumption for public facilities in the ward.
Cosmo Oil Marketing plans to continue supporting local governments and companies in their efforts to reduce environmental impact and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society.
