Sankt Gallen Co., Ltd. will release its dessert beer “Winter Fruit Tart Ale” on November 28, 2024, using upcycled damaged figs. This seasonal beer offers a luxurious flavor enhanced with ginger and cinnamon.

A Unique Beer Blending Sweetness of Fruits and Spices

Based in Atsugi, Kanagawa, Sankt Gallen Co., Ltd. (President: Nobuhisa Iwamoto) will launch “Winter Fruit Tart Ale” as a winter limited edition from November 28, 2024. This beer is developed as part of an upcycling initiative using damaged figs from the Ashigara area in Kanagawa.
The amber-colored beer features caramel malt, with added ginger and cinnamon to create a gingerbread-like flavor. The rich sweetness of fully ripe figs blends with the refreshing tartness of Nagano apples, offering a complex and deep taste.
“Winter Fruit Tart Ale” has been well received, described as a beer reminiscent of drinking stollen or cake. It is available for purchase online and in select department stores, making it a perfect Christmas gift.
The development of this beer involves collaboration with local farmers to utilize imperfect fruits, contributing to reducing food waste. Sankt Gallen is committed to continuing efforts toward realizing a sustainable society.
