AnotherADdress, a fashion subscription service by Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co.Ltd., launched the “roop” project in August 2024 as a new initiative towards a decarbonized society. The project aims to upcycle collected garments into rentable items through designer collaborations.
Upcycling Collected Garments to Foster a Sustainable Fashion Future
The “roop” project seeks to revitalize unused clothing by transforming them into new, valuable pieces through upcycling. Since August, approximately 2,000 garments have been collected from seven Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co.Ltd. and AnotherADdress members. Over 110 fashion students and designers are participating, focusing on preserving the stories behind each garment while creating innovative upcycled items. By proposing new circular fashion, the project aims to contribute to a decarbonized society and foster new connections through fashion. The timeline includes a submission of works in December 2024, the first round of judging in January 2025, the final judging in February 2025, and the commencement of the rental service in spring 2025.
