FKG Corporation, based in Kumamoto Prefecture, is celebrating the first anniversary of ADSITE, its soil amendment made from recycled combustion ash. This zeolite product, known for its ability to retain nutrients in the soil, has gained attention as an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution.

A Groundbreaking Soil Amendment Using Domestic Combustion Ash

In Japan, climate change and increasingly frequent heavy rains are causing significant changes to agricultural soils. The problem of nutrient ionization and subsequent leaching from the soil due to rainfall is becoming more prevalent. ADSITE, developed as a solution to this issue, is a zeolite-based product made from combustion ash. It retains essential nutrients in the soil, efficiently supplying them to crops for healthy growth.
Japan produces around 12 million tons of combustion ash annually, with approximately 13%, or 1.56 million tons, going unused. ADSITE is made from this unused resource, featuring a cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 220 cmol/kg, about three times that of natural zeolite. This high-performance product supports crop growth and contributes to sustainable agriculture. Additionally, because ADSITE is manufactured from domestically sourced combustion ash, it is not subject to price hikes affecting imported products, providing a stable and cost-effective solution for farmers.
With its focus on sustainability, ADSITE represents an environmentally friendly and innovative product in the agricultural sector. Its adoption is expected to increase, bringing further advancements to sustainable farming practices.
