The Ministry of the Environment will host the fourth session of its online seminar series, “Let’s Start, Regional Renewable Energy Seminar,” on September 27 (Friday). The session, titled “Specific Measures for Regional Decarbonization 1,” is designed for local government employees and aims to promote the adoption of renewable energy in regions across Japan.

Topics Local Government Employees Need to Learn: “J-Credit System,” “Solar Sharing,” “Utilization of Biogas from Food Waste”

The “Let’s Start, Regional Renewable Energy Seminar,” organized by the Ministry of the Environment, is an online series aimed at local government employees focused on regional decarbonization. The seminar covers a broad range of topics, from basic knowledge and practical measures to solving challenges associated with renewable energy adoption. Participants are expected to gain skills to promote regional efforts towards a decarbonized society through concrete examples.
Starting from the fourth session, experts will provide explanations on specific measures for regional decarbonization and methods for public-private partnerships. The theme of the fourth session is “Specific Measures for Regional Decarbonization 1,” which will cover the J-Credit System, solar sharing, and the utilization of biogas from food waste. The fifth session will focus on energy efficiency in buildings, including energy audits, insulation improvements, Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB), and Zero Energy Houses (ZEH).
The sixth session will address measures related to transportation, urban planning, and resilience, while the seventh session will provide basic knowledge on public-private partnership projects. The final, eighth session will feature case studies of municipalities actively working on decarbonization. Through these seminars, local government employees are expected to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement decarbonization strategies tailored to their regions.
The seminar will be held online via Zoom, with a capacity of 200 participants per session. If the capacity is exceeded, the sessions will also be streamed on YouTube.
The Ministry of the Environment’s initiative is seen as a crucial tool to support decarbonization across the country. It is expected to be a valuable learning opportunity for municipalities aiming to promote renewable energy that leverages local characteristics.
