MAJOR7, a new condominium portal site, has released the results of its 2024 “Most Desirable Neighborhoods to Live” survey. In the Tokyo metropolitan area, Ebisu reclaimed the top spot after two years, while Umeda-Osaka took first place in the Kansai region. The survey was conducted among approximately 680,000 prospective condominium buyers.
Tokyo’s Most Desirable Neighborhoods: Convenience and Style Make the Difference
According to the 2024 survey, Ebisu was named the most desirable neighborhood to live in within the Tokyo metropolitan area. Meguro ranked second, followed by Jiyugaoka in third. All three areas are highly regarded for their convenience and trendy atmosphere. Ebisu and Meguro, in particular, were praised for their abundance of dining options and high-status feel. Other popular neighborhoods, such as Shinagawa, Kichijoji, and Yokohama, also maintained their positions in the rankings due to their commercial facilities and promising development prospects.
When it comes to “Most Desirable Neighborhoods to Work,” Tokyo led the rankings. Its strong business environment and excellent transportation options were major factors, while areas like Otemachi, Shinjuku, and Shibuya were appreciated for their vibrant commercial centers and lively after-work scenes.
In the Kansai region, Umeda-Osaka climbed to the top spot from second place last year. The area’s convenient transportation and abundance of commercial facilities were the main reasons behind its high ranking. Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi and Shukugawa also performed well, attracting attention for their accessibility and attractive, upscale environments. Other notable areas, such as Kobe-Sannomiya and Ashiya, were favored for their quiet and affluent atmospheres.
In terms of “Most Desirable Neighborhoods to Work,” Umeda-Osaka once again took the top spot, with respondents highlighting the area’s vibrant commercial and dining scenes. Kobe-Sannomiya and Yodoyabashi followed in second and third place, respectively, both appreciated for their sophisticated atmospheres and high status.
