“Moshi Camp,” an exciting disaster preparedness event organized by Kitamokk Co., Ltd., will be held on October 27, 2024, at the TAKIVIVA meeting facility in northern Karuizawa, Gunma Prefecture. The event aims to teach children valuable survival skills through camping activities such as chopping firewood, fetching water, and starting a fire. These experiences, which are different from everyday life, help raise disaster awareness and equip participants with practical skills that can be useful during emergencies.

Disaster Preparedness Workshops to Build Survival Skills

Kitamokk Co., Ltd., based at the foot of Mount Asama, practices sustainable forestry, focusing on broadleaf trees and promoting a circular economy by utilizing local resources. The company operates the popular campsite “SweetGrass” and the meeting facility “TAKIVIVA,” both of which emphasize the connection between people and nature. These include disaster cooking using plastic bags, creating kids’ stools that double as emergency toilets, and crafting cutting boards from local Karuizawa wood. Additionally, participants can watch a reenactment of Mount Asama’s great eruption and take part in a quiz to learn about volcanic disasters.
