Kyarainnovate Corporation will relaunch its circular economy product line, “WANOWA,” on October 10, 2024. Utilizing discarded agricultural products from across Japan, the series introduces two new scents—Tosa Buntan and Yamato Tachibana—alongside its classic offerings, reinforcing its commitment to regional support and environmental sustainability.
“New Scents Enhance the Connection Between Local Agriculture and Fragrance”
The “WANOWA” series aims to promote a sustainable circular economy by reusing materials that would otherwise be discarded, while contributing 2% of sales to the regions where the ingredients are sourced. Set to relaunch on October 10, 2024, the series will expand its lineup to include “Tosa Buntan” (Kochi Prefecture) and “Yamato Tachibana” (Nara Prefecture), in addition to the classic scents of “Kunizo Yuzu” (Ishikawa Prefecture), “Kashimo Hinoki” (Gifu Prefecture), and “Wazuka Tea” (Kyoto Prefecture).
“Tosa Buntan” is derived from Kochi Prefecture’s buntan fruit, with essential oils extracted from the fruit peel. The resulting hand cream offers a refreshing citrus scent, utilizing a resource that would otherwise go to waste.
Meanwhile, “Yamato Tachibana” is made from one of Japan’s oldest citrus fruits, recognized as a near-threatened species. With cultural and historical significance, the hand cream uses essential oils from pruned branches and leaves, resulting in a unique, spicy aroma.
Beyond creating fragrant products, the WANOWA series is dedicated to supporting local communities and environmental conservation. One example is the “WANOWA Noto Hiba Room Spray,” made from the Noto Hiba tree in Ishikawa Prefecture. This product supports recovery efforts following the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, with all profits donated towards regional restoration efforts. To date, the initiative has raised approximately ¥280,035, contributing to local forest conservation.
From October 2 to 4, the flagship store in Asakusa, Tokyo, will host a product debut event to celebrate the relaunch of WANOWA. Corporate customers will have the opportunity to sample the new scents and textures, while a distillation demonstration of Japanese cypress will also be featured.
