The Story Behind the Sake: Regional Revitalization Efforts Embedded in Each Bottle

Founded in 1886, Nagai Sake Brewery is a long-established sake producer dedicated to crafting sake that reflects the natural beauty of Kawaba Village in Gunma Prefecture. Mizubasho D’s Vintage, the newly launched product, is the brewery’s first sake made with Yukihotaka, a locally grown rice variety. This sake reflects the rich terroir of Kawaba Village and is a special blend created from multiple vintages, resulting in a deep and complex flavor.
Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Club realized this collaboration as part of their “Regional Inspiration” initiative, which aims to promote regional revitalization. The partnership between Nagai Sake Brewery and the company strives to protect and pass down the cultural and natural heritage of the region for future generations.
Three percent of the sales from Mizubasho D’s Vintage will be donated to the “Oze Mizubasho Project,” which supports the cultivation of Mizubasho flowers and environmental conservation in the Oze region. This project is dedicated to protecting the natural environment and contributing to a sustainable future, and through the sale of this special sake, it is expected to make a significant impact on the local community.
