Withers Home, a home builder based in Chiba Prefecture, has implemented three standard features across all its homes: a solar power generation system, 2×6 construction method, and exterior wall tiles. These features are part of their initiative to create homes that are both environmentally friendly and cost-effective. By evolving its “With Earth Declaration,” the company is able to reduce the running costs of a home by approximately 7.45 million yen.

Reducing Environmental Impact with Three Standard Features

Withers Home is promoting its “With Earth Declaration,” an initiative aimed at providing environmentally friendly homes. Announced in December 2023, this declaration aims to create homes that coexist with the Earth, and the standardization of these three features across all homes is a concrete step in that direction.
The three features now standard in all Withers Home properties—solar power generation systems, 2×6 construction, and exterior wall tiles—each contribute to reducing the burden on residents while also benefiting the environment.
First, the solar power generation system generates clean, safe energy at home, helping to reduce reliance on conventional power sources. This not only cuts CO2 emissions but also lowers electricity bills. According to Withers Home’s estimates, homeowners can save approximately 1.77 million yen over 10 years. Moreover, solar power provides energy security during disasters, supporting self-sufficiency in energy.
Second, the 2×6 construction method reduces CO2 emissions associated with wooden houses, minimizing environmental impact. Compared to the traditional 2×4 method, the walls in 2×6 construction are approximately 1.6 times thicker, resulting in better insulation performance. This enables efficient energy use while maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures. The appropriate use of wood and contributions to forest conservation are also key benefits of this method.
Lastly, the exterior wall tiles offer exceptional durability and weather resistance, requiring minimal maintenance to preserve their appearance over time. When considering maintenance costs over 50 years, it is estimated that these tiles can reduce costs by approximately 5.2 million yen compared to conventional exterior materials. By reducing the frequency of wall replacements and rebuilds, this also helps to cut down on waste.
Through these three features, Withers Home is able to reduce both the environmental impact and the financial burden on residents. Over the life cycle of a home, running costs are expected to be reduced by approximately 7.45 million yen.
Withers Home continues to provide homes that are gentle not only to people but also to the environment, based on their “With Earth Declaration.” The company’s CEO, Satoshi Kanzaki, stated, “We want to provide environmentally friendly homes to as many customers as possible and raise awareness about environmental protection.”
To commemorate the standardization of these features, Withers Home is running a campaign from September 14 to October 31, 2024. During this period, special incentives will be offered to customers who sign contracts, and those who visit model homes will have the chance to win luxurious prizes, such as accommodation at resort facilities in Okinawa or Chiba through a raffle.
