Aiming to promote the use of renewable energy (RE), “Let’s Create Renewable Energy Day! 2024” will be held in Shibuya on September 22. Leaders from various fields tackling climate change will gather to share knowledge and actions for a sustainable future.
A Major Event to Address Climate Change Together
With the intensifying impact of climate change, the spread of renewable energy has become a pressing issue. The event will feature talk sessions and exhibitions focused on renewable energy, showcasing the importance of RE and specific initiatives being taken. The event is organized by the non-profit organization “Media is Hope,” which is calling on participants to work together in shaping the future of renewable energy.
“Let’s Create Renewable Energy Day! 2024” will host opinion leaders from diverse industries, including sports, fashion, healthcare, and media. One of the highlights will be a discussion on “The Sports World’s Response to Climate Change,” featuring representatives from the J-League and Alvark Tokyo. They will share their efforts to raise awareness of climate change through sports.
In a session focused on the fashion industry, representatives from the Ethical Association and sustainable brands will take the stage to discuss how the industry can contribute to sustainability.
The event will also introduce practical initiatives and technological innovations related to renewable energy. Companies such as Chiyoda City, Green People’s Power, and Pexel Technologies will showcase examples of renewable energy being utilized at both regional and corporate levels.
The exhibition area will be rich with booths, where youth organizations and companies engaged in renewable energy will present their projects. In the dining area, sustainable food and drinks will be available, providing a fun and educational environment for families and friends to learn about renewable energy.
One of the event’s key attractions is the public viewing of TV Asahi’s special program on renewable energy, “Urgent Report! The Renewable Energy Revolution.” This special will feature segments on renewable energy’s coexistence with local communities and offshore wind power, with live commentary during the screening. After the program airs, journalists who have reported from the front lines of renewable energy will host a talk session, sharing insights from the field.
In the afternoon, there will also be sessions on marketing and climate anxiety. Experts and practitioners will discuss marketing strategies to promote solar panels and how to connect climate anxiety to individual action.
The event will conclude with the “Media is Hope AWARD” ceremony, recognizing media and journalists who have contributed to reporting on climate change. The award aims to enhance both the quality and quantity of climate change reporting, with high expectations for the future role of the media.
