The “ETHICAL DESIGN FORUM KANSAI 2024,” a business matching event centered on ethical design, will be held in Osaka on September 12 and 13. Organized by Funaba Co., Ltd., which is dedicated to promoting sustainable space design, the event aims to advance the social implementation of ethical design. The forum will feature exhibits and talks related to creating spaces that are kind to the future.

Funaba’s Challenge in Promoting Ethical Design

Funaba, a Tokyo-based company specializing in space design for offices, commercial facilities, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities, has set the vision of becoming a “Good Ethical Company” since 2021, advancing sustainable space design. The “ETHICAL DESIGN FORUM KANSAI 2024” is part of this initiative.
The event will showcase Funaba’s ethical design projects, exhibits on reproducts, zero waste, and ethical materials. Additionally, with the cooperation of Material Bank® Japan, there will be talk sessions sharing insights on sustainability in the architecture and interior design industries.
This event is held in collaboration with Material Bank® Japan’s “Material Caravan Kansai” and the locally rooted design event “Design Weekend Osaka.” The Material Caravan Kansai will feature sustainable materials and how these materials are utilized in space design. The Design Weekend Osaka will include events across various locations in Osaka City, where design, business, and local communities intersect.
The forum will also touch on original furniture made from factory offcuts and unused resources, construction methods that avoid waste, high-recycling-rate resource flow, and the possibilities of utilizing traditional methods and materials in a sustainable manner.
